Here’s a real nice 1964 Gibson LG-1 in original cherry sunburst finish.
This one is a 1964-the last full year of the wider 1 11/16” nut. The ‘64’s are also quite a bit more rare than the more common 1965 version. This guitar features a spruce top with latter bracing-which along with the mahogany sides back and neck give the LG-1 it’s distinctive “little box” sound. The body is in great condition with a nice flat top and no cracks, breaks or splits. The nitrocellulose “sunburst” finish has random checking that really augments the vintage vibe. The original crappy plastic bridge was tossed in favor of vintage style rosewood version and the added resonance is welcome! The pickguard may have been reglued at some time-maybe not. Either way it is nice and flat with no issues. The neck joint is solid with no issues. The neck itself is straight and smooth. The tuners appear to be newer and they are the correct reissue vintage klusons. The headstock and logo display nicely and the truss rod functions well. The string height is fairly low all the way up to the 9th fret where the relief becomes medium. The neck depth is 20.57 mm at the first fret and 24.93 mm at the 12th fret. The Brazilian rosewood fingerboard is clean and has a great soft feel. The frets are in exceptional condition and have been dressed and polished. There is a tiny dot (smaller than pin head) on the side of the 10th fret-see photos. The guitar has a nice warm tone with excellent response. It is a lot of fun to play.
The concert sized body helps keep the weight down (4.00lbs !) so it is amazingly comfortable.
It is an excellent addition to your collection, whether on stage, in studio, or just sitting on the couch writing songs. Comes with the original alligator skin case that’s in very good condition.
You know what to do.
