You don't see too many of these classics around!

An Ibanez 513 mandolin from the mid 1970s.

These mandolins were apparently made in Japan from 1974-79 by Hoshino Gakki and are very good quality, great sounding instruments.

It features a spruce top and maple back and sides.

This mandolin is in very good condition. It is structurally sound.

The finish is really nice with only a few small dings on the top which I've tried to capture in the photographs.

The binding has aged and turned a cool creamy/brownish color and has a couple brown spots. The dicoloration is only cosmetic, the binding is completly intact.

On the back of the headstock there is a crack at the one 'ear'. The crack does not appear to go right through the thickness of the headstock but only the backside layer--it looks like the headstock is made of two layers. The headstock is solid and this obviously doesn't affect playability. Please see photos.

Action is good and this vintage Ibanez plays very nicely.

An original, 70's deluxe hardshell case (which is quite rare in itself!) comes with this mandolin.

Grab this cool piece of Ibanez history now, these don't come around too often.
