I spec'd this 7-string with Ibanez's L.A. Custom Shop when I got an endorsement deal in 2000. It arrived in early '01 and started tour duty during Vai's Ultra Zone world tour. It was used to write, record and perform “Dave’s Party Piece” (fyi, not titled by me) which was captured on Vai’s “Live at the Astoria” recorded concert.

This 7-string has a basswood body, maple neck, 24-fret maple board. No inlay. It was ordered without a truss rod cover. The neck shape is based on a Universe but a bit rounder on back. I don't remember the radius. It has a matte, 2-color finish. I called the colors "green apple sparkle" and "deep ocean blue". The pickups are Dimarzio: PAF7 in the neck, Tone Zone 7 in the bridge. Also features Jem/UV-style output jack positioning.

As it was a touring guitar, it has authentic, road-earned wear, dings and such. Happy to send more pics specifically of the wear. No backplate included. The pots are a little stiff from lack of use but the guitar functions 100% and plays and sounds great.

I'm including some fun collectibles in this package: The Ultra Zone tour program signed by all members (Vai, Bynoe, Keneally, Mangini, myself), 2 VIP passes from the first night of the Astoria filming, a tour posted from the promoter, and the stage-worn shirt.

Comes in brand new Ibanez case (purchased March '25) with a Dimarzio strap, whammy bar, and two packs of Ernie Ball 7-string strings. I'll include a brief certificate of authenticity as well.
