Homemade Fender Acrylic Mustang Body

Alright, folks! Today we have something rather interesting for you. Years ago, we purchased a 1966 Fender Mustang from the original owner. He was dissatisfied with the single coil pickups and didn’t want to route the body, so what did he do? He fashioned a new body made entirely of acrylic. This body was fitted with the 1966 Mustang neck, electronics, and bridge when it arrived. The project wasn’t yet completed, but we ended up putting it back together with the original body. This has been hanging around the shop since then, and we‘ve finally decided the time has come for someone to complete it! The acrylic has no cracks but could definitely use a wet sand/polish. It consists of two pieces - a body cavity and a removable top. The screws that normally hold down the pickguard of a Mustang were used to secure the top down. This will be quite a cool piece once it’s built out, and we look forward to getting it into the hands of someone who will be excited about it.
