1988 Steinberger XL-2 Black

One owner, purchased new, all original, was one of my three main basses in the '80s and '90s (the other two were a BC Rich USA custom shop Widow, and a '68 Ric 4001).

It was used in the studio, and countless shows and bar gigs for many years.

Original, no modifications. Listed as very good condition, this is not a showpiece; there are scratches, signs of use, some screws have rust, but it plays as good as ever.

Please note, one problem, easy to fix: one of the battery connector leads (red) disconnected from the battery connector tab and will need to be re-soldered, see the pictures. Not doing it because IDK if the buyer wants to keep the original cardboard connector or replace it with something more durable.

The serial number isn't on any of the well-known Steinberger lists because I purchased it new, most likely either at Manny's on 48th Street or Brian Guitars in New Haven, CT back in '88 or '89.

Includes original gig bag, and an extra set of D'Addario double-ball bass strings that have been used, but "boiled and oiled". The great thing about double-ball bass strings is they could be reused many times if changed regulary and "boiled and oiled" - I used to change the strings weekly, boil the used set in water, then dry them and wipe down with mineral oil and put them back in the package.
