1960’s Eko 990 Barracuda Bass
Eko was founded in Italy 1959 by Oliviero Pigini. They produced electric and acoustic guitars catering to both student and professional level and manufacturing largely for export. Eko guitars gained high popularity during the rock ‘n’ roll craze of the 1960s, becoming the largest guitar exporter in Europe.
The Barracuda hollow body guitar and bass models debuted in the Eko catalogue in 1963 and remained in production for many years.
This well looked-after example of a 990 bass has a warm woody tone and with it’s flatwound strings nails the classic 60’s beat boom sounds with ease. Very comfortable slim neck and plays well. A great affordable vintage bass – comes with a hardshell case.
