About This Listing

Moulded Glass Rock Slides are individually hand moulded in the USA by master lampworkers.  These have all the same features as our brass Rock Slides® with the Knuckle Cut, Finger Rest and Tapered Interior.  These fit almost exactly like their brass counterpart but are slightly longer.  The main difference being that they are much lighter & faster so you can really cook with these on an electric guitar.  Because of our unique tapered interior design they do have enough mass to light up your acoustic.

SMALL ROCK SLIDES are the sports car of the slide world, very light weight and extremely fast. Ideal for the guitarist who needs to play chords but wants to throw in pinky slide chops. It also works well on the ring finger of many women.

MEDIUM ROCK SLIDES are a perfect weight for most styles, heavy enough for long sustain on acoustic guitars, but light enough to easily control for fast electric playing.

LARGE ROCK SLIDES are one of the heaviest on the scene. This makes for killer sustain on the thickest of string gauges and a down-right dark sound.

WHAT SIZE DO I NEED?

First and foremost, you can always email or call Danny for help.  He’ll talk your ear off and knows all about these.  Not all situations and fingers are the same and there is also a degree of personal preference that can’t always be figured out with a measurement.  For the majority of customers, these processes below will work.

Method 1: Jewelry Store

The most accurate way to size your finger is to stop by your neighborhood jeweler and get your ring size and also the diameter of the ring in Metric or USA.  If you find that your large knuckle is somewhere around 19mm a medium will be a great choice.    We have personally gone to dozens of jewelry sellers ranging from high end, mall stores and even Fred Meyer. None of them have ever charged for the service which takes about 60 seconds.  More importantly they have all given us the same size on a given finger.

Method 2: Measure with Wrenches

If you have access to a set of Metric or USA box wrenches you can very quickly measure your finger.  To measure any finger size, use the OPEN END (not the ring end as it could get stuck) of the wrench.  Find the size that slides over the large knuckle snugly like how a ring fits.  If it floats over your knuckle without touching the skin then go the next size down.

Method 3: Paper Wrap

Alternately, you can measure with the good ol’ paper and ruler trick.  To do this you’ll need a sharpened pencil, a 3-4″ long strip of tape or paper and a ruler.  Snugly wrap the tape or paper around the largest knuckle on the subject finger.  With the pencil make a mark where the paper or tape overlaps.  Measure the length to get the circumference of your finger.  Use a circle calculator, punch in the measurement i.e. 2.5″ into the circumference field and solve for the radius which in this case will be .79″.

ARIEL POSEN SIGNATURE

Ariel has become a staple in songwriting, singing and certainly slide guitar. His guitar slide is a stretched out version of our original small brass balltip.  The balltip adds even more weight for long sustain and gives the ability to play on the tip. Served up 3 different ways in polished brass, nickel plated brass, or aged brass.
