About This Listing

No trades.

Here's a rare St. Blues Blues King model four string bass. Serial number 01005. This bass was built in Memphis, TN by Tom (TK) Keckler at the Strings & Things guitar shop in 1985 with parts purchased from Hisatake Shibuya in Tokyo, Japan. Shibuya was the founder of ESP Guitars. At this time a few other manufacturers used ESP for OEM instrument bodies and necks such as Kramer Guitars, Schecter Guitar Research, Robin Guitars, and Dimarzio. The Blues King model was based off a modified Fender Telecaster design and available in both guitar and bass versions. They are sought after by collectors and considered of very high quality. It features a mahogany body with bound top, maple neck with Indian Rosewood fingerboard, active EMG pickups, black hardware, and black finish.

The finish shows considerable wear. This bass looks to have seen the inside of a beer joint or two, Delta juke joints, Arkansas VFW clubs, or Memphis dive bars, it has been around the block a time or two. All the wear is cosmetic. The instrument is structurally sound and has no issues. It plays and sounds great. Someone will be playing this guitar 50 years from now. Comes with a plastic molded hardshell case.
