About This Listing

I’ve listed this as non functioning simply due to electronic ground noise, acoustically sitting down and playing this it plays very well. The pickups work but some rewiring is needed it looks sloppy. I’ll have a link to a YouTube video for this guitar embedded*

For the age of this guitar it’s finish and hardware is in good shape. The electronics controls have been modified and they will need some work, hence the price. Frankly I could probably do better monetary wise piecing it out but it’s made it 50+ years and I’d like to keep it complete. I’m sure you are familiar with all the famous musicians that used these so I’ll spare you. Hagstroms have never had the serial numbers published online so dating them is rather difficult. I believe this model ended in 1973 so that’s the newest it could be. When I purchased it I was told it was mid 60s but unsure. The body finish has some chips around the edges but if this guitar is 55 years old the finish has remained very glossy and pretty nice looking overall. Same with the neck. The neck has a nice rosewood board. A little fret wear but really not that much. The headstock finish is nice and the logo remains visible and vibrant. The rear of the neck is glossy and has some very shallow small dings that aren’t really something felt when playing. The neck side markers are there but 1 of the 2 that are at the 12th fret is missing and I’ve photographed this. All metal hardware like the bridge , tremolo, neckplate and original tuners are in very nice shape no corrosion. The pickups are original. The trem arm is original but i think a screw is missing that holds it in place as I can pull it out of the bridge and see an indentation where A screw would likely go but i do not have it. The action is pretty low and the guitar plays well. If you are familiar with this model you’ll notice the controls were changed. These traditionally have some slider switches , they were removed and i have them still. A new pickguard was cut and done pretty well that deleted the switches. I do not have the original pickguard. The controls are volume for the neck pickup, volume for the bridge pickup and a master tone. I believe the master tone knob is original the other 2 chrome ones aren’t. The controls all work well as do the pickups. The entire body is shielded. The guitar is rather silent and sounds fine except if you touch the metal surround of the pickups it buzzes and grounds out. With the pickups working fine except for when touched leads me to use some deductive reasoning and looking at the pots and wiring it’s all cheaper stuff, it does have full size pots but the wiring doesn’t look that great, thin plastic wiring and it doesn’t appear well done. I think this guitar needs some nice American CTS pots and good wiring but on the cheap perhaps it can be left as is and the wiring just done better they didn’t seem to soder the wires well leaving uninsulated wiring not grounded to the pots etc I’ve shown a photo of the electronics. Either way you’ll want to work on the electronics, maybe add some other switches back to it etc but besides that this guitar is a lot cleaner then most I see it’s age And i like that all the extra switch stuff has been deleted with a custom and well made pickguard. It’s complete and worthy of some more elbow grease , these tuning machines alone are worth a decent sum.

Comes with Possibly the original chipboard case and misc slider switches and screws.

I actually have some more internal photos like the neck heel etc drop a message if you’d like them I ran out of room.
