This early production (pre Norlin) 1969 gold top Deluxe with OHSC is a real Closet Queen and it shows. Stored for over 40 years, always maintained strings and tuned, this guitar features a one-piece 10.3 lb. mahogany body (with a maple cap) like 1950s models. Later in the year this was re-designed as a multi-layer "pancake" with a strip of lighter wood sandwiched between the mahogany pieces. This is universally considered a downgrade. The three piece neck has no volute and no made in USA stamp on headstock. Original frets, Serial # 851095. Tuners have been replaced with Schallers. Originals are included (see photos) potentiometers and volume and tone control knobs also replaced. There are a couple of dings on the neck (see photos) that never bothered me and could be buffed out. While this model would go on to be produced in the many thousands in the 1970s, this one from the first couple of months of 1969 is a true gem.
