This steel string charangon / ronroco with DGBEB tuning was made by luthier Ricardo Gonzales in Bolivia. The scale length is 42 cm. It has 12 strings - the G and top B strings have 3 courses. So it's the same tuning as a typical ronroco except all strings are steel and the G and B have an extra string to add even more shimmer and depth to the sound. It is extremely silvery and lush sounding but I have too many instruments. It's a bit like a tiple but with ronroco tuning.
The tuning pegs are sensitive and need to be finessed but it is very easy to play and has quite good intonation once you do get it in tune. Part of the reason for that is because I opted for thinner steel strings so that I could play more complex chords. It definitely is better than the ones that came with.
I have 10 sets of spare string sets for this instrument I am selling with it! That's literally 120 strings made by D'addario worth over $100. I'm basically just including that for free. I have too many instruments and while this one has an extremely unique sound I would like to sell it!
Comes with a hard case and a basic piezo pickup!
