About This Listing

Up for sale, a 2009 Paul Reed Smith “30” tube amp head in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with slip cover. The PRS tube amp line was a collaboration between PRS and master amp builder Doug Sewell, hand-wired in Maryland and first released in 2009. This first-year model was described by PRS as “an English sound with an American twist.”

The "30" appropriately pushes 30 all-tube watts via a quad of EL84 power tubes, offering a warm, rich sound with pronounced midrange and sweet, singing highs. A single channel, single input design, the amp delivers both ample headroom for pristine cleans, and rich saturated crunch at higher settings (or with the aid of the Master Volume). A three-spring reverb with medium decay adds additional dimension and splash to the signal.

The simple, user-friendly controls include Volume, Reverb, Treble, Middle, Bass, and Master Volume knobs, as well as a Bright switch. The unique Master Volume control is dialed out of the circuit as the amp approaches maximum volume, instead just thickening the sound. The tube complement includes two Mullard 12AX7 and two Genalex Gold Lion 12AT7 preamp tubes, with a matched quartet of TAD EL84 power tubes.

This well-kept Paul Reed Smith “30” sports black-and-white “Tuxedo” tolex that shows sparingly little wear, along with a pristine faceplate and sextet of pointer knobs.

A slip cover is included.
