For Sale 10 channel 4 bus 1968 Langevin am4 mixing console. Rare console In superb cosmetic condition. Console functions perfectly. I've used this as my main mixing and tracking console for the last 3 years and upkeep has been meticulous. All original input and output transformers. Completely recapped and cleaned thoroughly with Miller/Stephens chemicals. New custom built Acopian 48VDC regulated power supply and new XLR I/O wiring. Console sounds incredible, In the same league as vintage API/NEVE but with more vintage color in the vein of electrodyn. Very punchy. Driving the console creates some of the best, unique, sonically pleasing distortion I've heard from any solid state console. With more conservative gain structure console can sound very hi fi and robust, wide!
The EQ is mil-spec stepped switches, 2 band, +/-12db for each band, 3db increments. The high frequency selection points are 3K, 5K, 10K - or the middle frequency between two points (if you select both switches). The low frequency points are 50, 100 and 1K - or again, the middle frequency between two points. For example - if you select both 5K and 10K you will boost at 7.5K. All the EQ points are shelving with the exception of the 1K EQ which is a peak
I had a few modifications done to the console as well.
First off i had inserts installed on bus 1+2(engaged by flipping the white switches pictured). This allowed me to feed bus 3 + 4 into 1 + 2 for mixing. Makes balancing Bus 1 + 2 for stereo program material quick and easy. Was an afterthought but soon found out that runing sound through just the bus inserts sounded amazing, especially when pushed. Used them often as an effect for extra color.
The 8 pots on the far right weren't wired to anythnig when i received the console. I often work off 8 track tape so i had those pots wired to be an 8 ch passive mono monitor mixer that sends to bus 4 with the toggle switches set up as mutes.
I like to keep things small format, perfect for anyone looking to do things of that nature or as the ultimate side car console for a larger studio. These pres sound incredible on drums
