About This Listing

This vintage original 1962 Epiphone Texan is a real gem of a Texan at a nice price because it has been completely professionally refinished. The guitar was originally Natural, and has been refinished Natural as well.

It plays and sounds incredible. Super fat neck feels amazing, and the tone of the guitar is just super sweet. Deep, responsive low end and shimmering highs. An amazing recording guitar.

The neck is straight and plays great all the way up and down without issue. Rosewood fretboard is particularly nice wood.

Spruce top does not appear to have any repaired cracks, same with the back and sides and neck so it is structurally in fantastic condition.

Original bridge has two extra screws in it. Additionally, the headstock has some screws in it, one on the side of the headstock where each tuner is. Not sure why this was ever done, but they are there. If this guitar could talk...

Comes with nice vintage two tone grey original hardshell case.

Product Overview
The Epiphone Texan FT-79 is an earlier Epiphone guitar, an answer to the brand's '40s flattops. Right after Gibson bought Epiphone in '57, the company redesigned those '40s flattops to incorporate some of the design elements of the Gibson J-45, like a sloped shoulder and a shorter scale length, giving birth to what they eventually renamed the Texan. This maple-bodied, spruce-topped dreadnought was made famous by none other than Paul McCartney, and can be heard on the recording of "Yesterday." The Texan has also been used by the likes of Kurt Cobain, Ben Gibbard, Noel Gallagher, and Peter Frampton.
