Hi, and welcome to my auction. :-)

Today I'm selling a 2003 Left-Handed Hofner Deluxe 5000/1 bass, with the original hardshell "Bullet" case. I bought this back in 2009, but was unable to really use it much, as I'm a tribute musician, so I'm always having to play my Hofner 500/1 bass instead (the "standard" McCartney version, with the Vintage Sunburst finish). As a result, I was never able to use this instrument "live," so it's still in the same shape it was when I bought it. I'm also including the Hofner "Bullet" case it was sent to me in, with the keys still in the pocket.

As to this particular item, as you can see, it's really nice: it has an Alpine Spruce body (with very tight grain), curly maple sides & back (with the curly maple having really beautiful figuring), and a maple neck (with "crazy flame" in it). The fretboard is made of Ebony, and has the distinctive "double dot" fret markers, as well as the fancy design underneath the "Hofner" name on the headstock. The pickguard & switchplate are black, and all the hardware is gold. All in all, this is a really beautiful instrument, as you can see. If you've never played a Hofner, they're very light basses, and this one is no exception at 5 lbs (according to my digital bathroom scale). It's really fun to play, too - the neck is thin & "fast." As for sound, this particular model has a really nice high-end range that the 500/1 "Paul" model doesn't tend to get, and it has a really nice, tight low-end, too (again: this is something the 500/1 does not have, as it tends to sound "flabbier" in the lower-register frequencies). It's strung with Pyramid black nylon strings (exactly the same Pyramids that Paul used on the "Get Back" sessions, BTW), and they are easy to play & very loud, too. (I've listed the Hofner specs on this model below, just in case you need them.)

As for price, I'm asking for what this item (which has been discontinued by Hofner recently) would cost to purchase today. I'm leaving the "Best Offer" tab on this auction just in case you'd like to submit your own bids. (But please understand: I can only sell this item for a price that's fair to me, too.)

Thanks for looking, and let me know if you have any questions!
