Big Pimpin’...Early Upton Laminated Hawkes from their mid 2000's import era. Excellent shape as he’s spent his life as a backup. Real Perfling front and back (that’s crazy, man) Nice ebony board, tailpiece and saddle. 41 inch string length. Chunky neck that I interpret as a “D” and a fresh set of Eurosonic Lights. A Bass Violin Shop bridge and set up… a pro level end pin as well and he basically needs nothing. This boy is A Biggin! I got this bass as I have always wanted a “real” Hawkes and there is a “real” Hawkes for 50K in the TB classifieds…if you ever needed to upgrade! This bass is as loud as my Cleveland ply but it has a more focused or direct sound than the Cleveland does. A decent padded gig bag is included. This bass needs someone to play the Hell out of it! It's Way too Cool to be a backup....
From Upton's website:
"The old UB Hawkes model had shells and necks built for us to our in-house designed specifications in Europe, then the neck was set, varnished and set up in our old shop in Mystic. This broad-shouldered large violin pattern would later inspire our Brescian basses."
I’m in downtown Asheville NC so come on bye!
