This very interesting 1956 Les Paul was factory refinished by Gibson in 1961. The original 1956 serial number was stamped per 1961 specs in the back of the headstock which was Gibson's practice for factory finish work. At a later date the original P-90 pickups were replaced with PAF pickups. While the routing from that also appears factory it was done more recently than the finish. Aside from the pickups and rings, all of the other parts are original to the guitar. The result is an amazing 50's Les Paul with PAF pickups and an original Gibson "burst" finish applied a few years after the guitar was made. It weighs 8 pounds and 5 ounces. There is play wear but no structural damage. It is an incredible instrument and it comes with the original case.
