About This Listing

Completely Handmade, Point-to-point wiring, vintage analog, carbon composition resistors, true bypass, germanium fuzz face. This was handmade using vintage parts that are no longer in production. It features a unique ability to be able to simultaneously change the channel on your amp as it engages the effect. This fuzz circuit is based on the original 1960's fuzz face with an added tone control using vintage tone capacitors salvaged from a half century old tube Oregon.

Germanium transistors are sought after because of their unique sensitivity to the volume knob and your playing style. Slightly rolling back the volume on your guitar cleans up the fuzz. You can turn the fuzz all the way up on the pedal and then back down with the volume knob on your guitar. You can adjust it so it sounds clean with light playing an gives a little bite when you dig in.

This pedal has an authentic vintage sound because it uses a vintage germanium PNP transistor that requires a positive ground. These vintage style positive ground pedals normally cannot be Daisy chained with modern negative ground pedals however I added a small circuit that reverses the polarity going to the power jack making it compatible to be Daisy chained with modern negative ground pedals. I bought a small batch of these transistors several years ago back before the sanction bands with Russia. These Russian germanium transistors were rare and hard to come by then because they have been out of production for well over 50 years but now they're almost unheard of to come by. The tone caps have also been out of production for many years. They were salvaged from a vintage 1950s organ. These parts are obsolete and have been superseded by more stable consistent parts that have tighter tolerances however the newer Parts lack the warm organic sound and musical characteristics of these outdated parts. The reason you will not find these parts in newer mass produced fuzz pedals is due to their Rarity, expense and labor cost. Due to the inconsistency of germanium each circuit has to be tailored for that specific transistor by biasing it to the correct voltage for premium sound.
