Here is a very good condition, 1979 Michael Gee classical guitar. It was made by Michael Gee in his first workshop in England.

Michael Gee set up his first workshop in Nether Heyford, Northamptonshire which was built by his father in 1977. He quickly gained a reputation for fine instrument making and his guitars began to sell to players throughout the United Kingdom. Around this time, he also collaborated with renowned luthier Martin Fleeson.

This instrument is one of the earlier examples of Michael Gee's work, but still bears his signature sound.

The overall condition of the instrument is good. The guitar has been refinished using nitrocellulose lacquer. The were a couple of cracks at the base of sides (tail block area) and a hairline in the soundboard behind the bridge. These have been professionally repaired for strength and stability, while maintaining the guitar's original resonance. There were also a couple of blemishes in the binding near the soundboard which have been repaired. The back of the guitar has no cracks. There are a few small dings in the soundboard, which are shown in the photos.

This hand-crafted guitar was built using solid East Indian Rosewood for the back and sides, a Cedar neck and a solid Cedar top. The binding is Rosewood and Maple, and the head stock cap is Rosewood.

Scale length on this guitar is 655 millimeters. This scale allows for fairly easy reach with some extra power over a 650mm scale. The nut width measures 52 millimeters.

The ebony fretboard is in very good condition. The guitar has just been refretted for good intonation and easy play with rounded and polished fret ends. Action on the 12th fret low E string is 3.6 millimeters and the 12th fret high E string measures 3.5 millimeters.

This guitar has ornate gold tuning keys in excellent condition. The guitar will be carefully packed and shipped in a good condition hard shell case.
