Along with the McCarty 594 Thinline, the PRS S2 Vela is one of our absolute favorite PRS models. It's unique in that there's no real Core equivalent, and we love that because it truly is a special beast in more ways than one! Featuring a unique offset body, the S2 Vela is a dark horse and a true gem hidden in the PRS lineup. At the time of this guitar's introduction, the offset body was a first for PRS, but from the perfected comfort of the design, you'd think they had been at it for some time. This one's in a gorgeous Mahi Blue color, which is new for 2023 on the Vela. This one also weighs in at a featherlight 6.2 lbs!

It borrows a few elements from guitars from days gone by, featuring a DynaSonic-style single-coil neck pickup and an amazing humbucker in the bridge, which draws some similarities with a Filtertron-style pickup. The sound is bright, punchy, and clear, with a hint of jangle and plenty of body.

The Vela is the maiden voyage into an offset body shape for PRS and is both elegant and edgy. Loaded with a PRS DS-01 humbucker in the treble pickup position and the PRS-designed Type-D singlecoil in the bass pickup position, the Vela has a bright, punchy tone that sounds great plugged into your pedalboard or straight into an amp. A coil-tap on the tone control allows the DS-01 pickup to split into singlecoils and explore a whole new range of tones. The PRS plate-style bridge holds two brass saddles specifically designed for great sustain and perfect intonation so both rhythm and lead tones sound great no matter where you are on the fretboard.
