Vintage & Rare 1973 Gibson ES150 DCN. (Double Cutaway Natural)
PLEASE DO NOT BUY IF YOU REQUIRE SHIPPING
This model was made between 1969-73 and was intended to boost archtop sales by using the very popular ES335 shape. Unfortunately, what the management of Gibson failed to realise was that the ESS335 was popular because with its solid centre block, it could be used with the new breed of high powered and higher gain amps used in Rock music of the time. They didn't sell many so they are now quite rare.
However, they are a fantastic guitar. Basically like a ES175 but with the cooler 335 shape. Fitted with PAFs, this guitar is awesome for all styles except high gain rock where feedback becomes an issue.
Inspiring vintage tone without the 5 figure price tag.
The knob on the lower horn is a master volume
There is some lacquer checking as you would expect & signs of a 50year old guitar but in really good condition & functions perfectly.
In the new world of modellers of course, feedback is way less of a problem.
Most of these were made with a Walnut brown finish with a far smaller number having a Natural finish like this.
It's a great example in great condition. Plays great with plenty of fret life left. Also comes with what I was told was the original hard case. It certainly looks the part but obvs with cases it's difficult to be certain.
Sound wise, for me, this beats a ES335 with a more open & lively tone.
Any questions, just let me know. This is for collection only & only cash offers will be considered.
