Made by Toyka Teihatu Co. in Japan in the 1960s-1970s, this guitar has 7 soundboard braces glued from the bottom of the guitar to the sound hole, contributing to the outstanding tone, volume and projection of this guitar as well as the strength and stability of the soundboard. The cross braces are substantial as well. The construction of this guitar is overall quite impressive which helps explain how it has survived likely more than 5 decades. Nut is 45 mm, a bit smaller than the typical 50 mm nut found on most full-size classical guitars, qualifying this guitar as one with a narrow neck. No structural issues, just normal wear and tear that is to be expected from a vintage guitar that hasn't spent all of its time in a case. There is wear on the first three frets on the fingerboard. There are dinks and scratches throughout but nothing major -- nothing I felt compelled to address. It has character. The rosette is abalone or an artificial abalone that, like abalone, has a lot of colors in it when light hits it at different angles. Around the rosette was a black painted line that was mostly gone when I acquired the guitar so I polished the rest of it away. The top and bottom of the guitar are bound, with the perimeter of the soundboard painted with a narrow line of white which has partially worn away. Stand not included.
