About This Listing

Here is one of the forgotten guitars of the Gibson line, the ES-347TD. This one was built in 1980 and has been customized many many years ago and has mojo oozing out of it. The sunburst finish has aged beautifully and its been played but definitely not abused (the case is another story).

Lets start with the mods. These shipped with brass nuts in 1980, so the nut was replaced with a bone nut. The pickups were also swapped out. I do not know what they are but they are dated to 1978. If I am being honest. They sound pretty good individually. The middle position to me is pretty muddy. Because these are only two conductor pickups, the coil tap switch isn't functioning. The bigsby was added also many years ago and the Custom plate was added as well.

The neck is straight as can be on the guitar. The frets do show some wear as you would expect on a 40 year old guitar. The finish has some peeling around the bottom edge of the guitar as pictured. Normal light finish checking. No cracks or breaks. Action is low.

Case as pictured. Is original but definitely seen better days.

All in all a very cool vintage Gibson hollowbody!

Product Overview
Introduced as a replacement for the slowly-waning ES-345, the Gibson ES-347 TD was produced between 1978 and 1991. Its semi-hollow body sported coil-tapping pickups and a tunable tailpiece, and this higher-end ES entry was generally brighter and had a far better sustain than others in the series due to a number of factors, including its brass nut.
