This is kind of a rare one. It was made at the Coventry guitar and banjo works. Coventry Connecticut signed by Warren L Wellman . Dated 1962 . If you research you will find Dr. Warren L Wellman ,Musician, Teacher, Wood worker, Car builder. Etc. I believe this is the maker. What a talented man he was. I include pictures of him and an article about the one off car he built. In the article it says he did build some personal guitars . Nice looking geometric inlay around the sound hole. Low geared quality engraved tuners. The bridge is ebony with a bone cap. The guitar has a few minor problems but is in overall great condition . There are some hairline cracks in the body near the neck (see pics) Also he was a excellent woodworker but the center strip cleats were glued with the grain in the wrong direction causing the back center to split. Needs to be corrected. The neck is little over 2" wide at the nut. Very flat profile. 3/4" thick at the nut tapering to about 1" at the 9th fret. More like an electric guitar. Back is maple with birdseye maple sides . Spruce top with grain widening to the outer edge. No cracks in top. Classical fan bracing. The neck is maple with a walnut strip with ebony pin stripes. Look at pictures. Action is 3/16" at the twelfth fret. Nice bassy sound. Scale is 25 5/8" or 652mm. Lower bout is 14 3/4" . depth is 3 3/4". OAL is 39" This guitar is playable in it's present condition but needs the attention mentioned. Being sold as is so please ask any questions you may have. Comes with the original case. Case is best up on the outside. With a little work this guitar could be a jem.
