Here we have a very interesting Kramer Baretta. Here's the story behind it: I obtained it from an acquaintance who long ago received it from a friend who co-owned a moving/storage company in El Segundo with Gary Kramer. Apparently, this Baretta was a prototype for the 1988 Winter NAMM Show. I do not have any documentation to confirm this, and I am not a Kramer expert, but here's some info that may provide some insight:

  • The headstock and the relief on the lower bout indicate a later Baretta style.
  • The guitar has Gotoh tuners, which from what I've seen is not typical of the Barettas.
  • See pics of the routing for the neck single coil (which ended up not going to production) which is finished the same as the the recessed Floyd, so does not appear to be done after the fact.
  • The neck plate has no serial number!

Description of the pickups: see pic of the neck pickup removed, which show no branding or model #. The bridge is branded a Dimarzio; I have not removed it to see the underside.

Overall the guitar is in excellent condition with a dent on the top edge, some surface scratches, and a few paint imperfections showed in the pics (the photos make the imperfections look worse then they are). I have the back plate with screws. Includes the pictured Gator HSC.

At the very least this appears to be a late 80s Baretta in well above-average condition, which makes it rare enough, but this guitar appears to be truly one of a kind and can stand on that merit, even if it was not part of the NAMM show. Again, I have no documentation to prove the claim, but am providing the the recited history and attempting to point out some of the signs that seem to confirm the story.

I know this guitar is incredibly unique, so please feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to provide info. Likewise, if anyone has any comments that can verify one way or the other I will be glad to add it to the description. Thank you.
