DeArmond Gold Foil Pickups!

This is really Cool. You are looking at a Vintage 1960's Harmony H-75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar. Manufactured in Chicago in the early 1960s, this thinline hollowbody is very similar to one favored by Black Keys star Dan Auerbach, and bristles with a trio of sought-after DeArmond Gold Foil pickups. In 1960 this relatively flashy thinline hollow-body H-75 was the top-of-the-line model from Chicago-based Harmony. It graced the cover of the company's 1961 catalog, described as "Harmony's newest and finest" guitar. It followed quickly on the heels of Gibson's ES-335 models, which it outwardly resembles. Unlike those, the H-75 has a fully hollow body with no center block and a bolt-on neck.

With three of the now highly sought after DeArmond "Indox" gold-foil pickups and multiple binding on the body and neck this is a fairly deluxe guitar -- especially for Harmony, retailing in 1961 at almost $250. It is also a great-sounding, very versatile instrument with a large sonic palette. The three on-off switches allow all possible pickup combinations, and each unit has its own volume and tone control as well. The finish is a subtly blended brown-honey sunburst set off nicely with tortoise celluloid accents. The maple neck has a bound, block inlaid rosewood fingerboard and a nice chunky feel, reinforced with the then-new "Torque-lok" truss rod that actually works.

This is a super nice example of one of Harmony's very best guitars, a garage band classic in both sound and style. The cool two-tone Lifton C75 hardshell case included with this guitar retailed at $49.50 all by itself, and not surprisingly is very rarely found with most buyers opting for the $22.50 C70 chipboard instead.

Overall length is 40 3/4 in. (103.5 cm.), 15 3/4 in. (40 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 15/16 in. (4.9 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 in. (610 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

***REPAIRED LOWER BOUT EDGE CRACK***There is a 12" in length crack on the edge of the lower bout from about the input jack to the waist of the guitar on the edge only. It was repaired professionally many years ago and is still solid and tight. See pictures #11-#13).

Overall this is a nicely original guitar, loved but not abused. The hardware is original and complete. The original HSC is somewhat worn but super rare, the only one we have ever seen with this model! Overall Very Good + Condition.

Cosmetics: Very Good Condition. Other than the aforementioned repaired lower bout edge crack, this guitar is really nice. Keep in mind that this is a 60+ year old vintage guitar that has been played. There is lacquer checking and crazing on both sides of the guitar. A few lacquer cracks. Cosmetic only NOT structural. Some light strumming scratches on the pickguard. A few light marks on the Top. The Back has some marks from being held next to the player's body. A few chips near the edge of the lower bout. Neck & Finger board in great shape. Some scratches at the tip of the headstock on the backside. The very rare original Lifton case is missing the handle. All latches work. Overall, really super good condition. Dripping with "Mojo". Look at the pictures closely, they will tell the story.
