Natural finish, hand-made 17th Century-style mandolin with hand-carved tops and backs. We are always on the lookout for aged and seasoned lumber to be repurposed by shy genius Finn for making these - at least 80 years old and with a neat previous history as part of an old house or other building. This one has an old spruce top expertly carved by our friend Finn the violin maker. Finn famously made a 10-string mandocello for us for Keith Richards. He hand-cuts the bridges and tailpieces, and sometimes incorporates found objects. Finn is a brilliant craftsman, uses only preindustrial tools, and likes to create a tone that can be felt as well heard - as he is partially deaf, he must really feel the resonance in his gut. These are incredible instruments for the money and sound great. Cases are extra.
