With its Extended Play series, Vater has found a way to dramatically extend the life of its hickory drumsticks without compromising tone or response. Extended Play sticks feature not one, but two stick-protection safeguards. The first is a 3" Stick Shield, 8x stronger than steel and weighing just half a gram, which guarantees sticks against breakage and weakening through rimshots. The next is a pearl-colored anterior coating, which helps keeps tips intact and protects sticks against crash strokes and hi-hat damage. 3" Stick Shield
If you play rimshots, you've probably noticed your sticks getting furry and eventually splitting at the hoop contact point. To combat this, Vater has fitted its Extended Play drumsticks with a 3" center Stick Shield. The Stick Shield is 8x stronger than steel at resisting impacts. And at just half a gram, its impact on stick response is marginal.
Durable coatingA coated shoulder, neck, and tip help prevent Extended Play sticks from premature chipping due to cymbal strokes and splitting at the point of impact.
Traditionally finished gripThe butt end of Vater's Extended Play drumsticks features the same great-feeling finish as the rest of its hickory sticks. This provides all players, matched grip to traditional, the performance they're used to.
