The Santa Cruz OM is one of the most requested models they build, and there’s many reasons why. The diversity of the instrument with a comfortable 14-fret body is robust in tone for many styles which makes this a go to for many flatpickers and fingerpickers alike. This custom OM is built with a rare set of Figured Black Acacia back and sides paired with a Bearclaw European Spruce top. The Black Acacia (otherwise known as Blackwood though it is not black) is locally sourced from California, not far from where Santa Cruz Guitars are made. This has the same tonal properties as it’s very close siblings Hawaiian Koa and Tasmanian Blackwood (both of which are acacia woods). and has a wonderful orange/ brown coloring with flamed figure. Paired with the set of Bearclaw Euro Spruce, this is a pairing of eye popping sonic proportions.
Features include Adirondack Spruce scalloped bracing with Hide Glue construction, Cowboy rope top purfling and rosette, full Ivoroid bound body, Ebony fretboard, bridge and headstock overlay with matching Ebony pins and more.
Perfect balance of tone from the big warm bass to the forward balanced sustaining mids and present and clear bell like trebles, this has a big sound and tone you are looking for, be it strumming, flatpicking or fingerstyle.
