About This Listing
For Sale is my 2018 (started in 2010, and first showing in public 2022) Model O.
Lunneborg Model O, Radeo #1.
My Radeo builds are an homage to my Grandfather who showed me what it meant to actually be a working artist. He was a North Dakota Farmer who worked the fields by day, framed houses in the off season but also played weddings and city street dances in the evenings. He was a Navy man who's shops were full of tools, machines, projects and on every wall - pinups. My Radeo Guitars are my attempt to share my memories of him by using my best concept builds as photo frames for pinup Polaroids.
This guitar is my first Radeo guitar. The first guitar that I've built for myself after 30 years of work. Radeo is the name of the model who's photos I'm using in these builds.
For this guitar I had the idea that I wanted to make comic book art inlay possible in wood working. Modern inlay artists have pushed the limits of materials and design to amazing levels and knowing I had to differentiate myself from them I had a flash of how I could make the comics I adored as a child fit in with the art and instruments I was building. Tattoo culture and rock 'n' roll poster design meets modern technology.
From what I know, this is the first of it's kind inlay and as such I sat on the completed guitar for 10 years. I brought it out in public for the first time at the Fretboard Journal Summit at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, IL summer of 2022. The inlay is a recreation of the models thigh tattoo. A collage of characters that meld 50's space TV show nostalgia with comic book culture.
The wood is all the best material I had in my shop. The back, sides and top came from my greatest mentor. A maker who has set the standard for my entire industry.
