Extremely rare, beautiful guitar. Have you ever wanted to own a guitar that will make your friends say wow! And sounds/looks unique. These guitars were designed by Deiter Hopf and produced in Japan by some of the best luthiers in the 80s. From my searching, I have discovered that Dieter Hopf has a patent on this guitar for a "floating ceiling membrane", but only a small supply were made because the design/ build process was so expensive. It had a solid cedar top and rosewood sides. There was a Japanese version called Shiraki that you can Google forums to get more info and feedback(there is one on eBay right now for 1,500)the hopf filigrana seems to be more rare and not sure if the Japanese version has the patent ceiling. This guitar is fan braced and the sound is impossible to describe. It is not a loud boomy sound like a Martin, but a very clean tone when playing finger style/picking. It sounds amazing for classical, blues, and country, but not a guitar I would choose for all open chords. I use this guitar more when I'm playing lead or classical (I actually have classical strings on it now) and has been my go to for writing songs. This is by far my loudest guitar acoustically, and when im jamming with a group of people, cuts through all the frequencies like no other guitar, and is very audible above the noise. Please let me know if you want more info. There is some dings throughout. Its a 40 year old cedar guitar that gets played a lot. There is one superficial "small" dent on the side where the laquer cracked a little but definitely not even touching the wood. Lastly the bridge has has less than a millimeter lift. My luthier said to not even bother, could stay like that for another 20 years, unless it grows, which it hasnt since ive owned it. The tree of life inlay is a decal to protect the fretboard and has MOP dot inlays beneath.
