Similar to the AJF28C this 1999 Tacoma Archtop AJF22C Hollowbody with 17" bout has a Carved Solid Spruce Top and Maple Back and Sides and $350 in upgrades including Benedetto S-6 Humbucker Pickup, Ratio Machine Head Tuners, new electronics with treble bleed .022 new orange capacitor. Serial No. C2245030
This guitar is known for its excellent build quality and its big natural, woody, smooth full rich sound. As such, it plays beautifully and has an exceptionally fine acoustic sound that is not only much louder than one would expect, but also exceptionally well-balanced, crisp, and responsive when it is amplified.
The sold carved top, smooth ebony fretboard, upgraded pick-up and electronics, wonderful setup, smooth fret dressing, and low (adjustable) action make this a dream to play and to hear.
This very resonant natural woody sounding guitar also sounds great through a large condenser microphone. And the acoustic quality comes through the humbucker nicely. The jumbo body has very deep bass. I recommend a full-range HIFi speaker or acoustic amp to get the most from its spectacular range and acoustic quality.
Hear/see it recorded in the studio on youtube -- last photo above is a video: see 1 min in.
Three fantastic upgrades make this a gorgeous professional jazz guitar in excellent condition and at a fantastic price.
Upgrades include (Cost $350 included):
1) Benedetto S-6 humbucker pickup is imbued with a tonal purity, smoothness, and woody acoustic tone and is a pleasure to experience.
2) Upgraded Volume/Tone control. New Schatten Design volume/tone control with treble bleed circuit [150K-ohm 1/4-watt resistor (1% tolerance) in parallel with a .001uF Orange Drop capacitor] so volume won't affect tone. .022uf tone capacitor.
3) Upgraded to Ratio Balanced Gear Tuners by Tusq. If you don't know these, they are amazing high-ratio tuners. Each tuner has a different gear ratio to provide for much more precise and predictable tuning and less likelihood of breaking a string. All tuners provide a half turn=1/2 step change on every string.
