For sale is a mid-east lute called tār which is in excellent condition.  The tār is a microtonal lute with 19 frets to the octave. Each string has a range of 1 octave + a minor 6th. The entire range of the instrument is 2 octaves + minor 6th. The bass string could be tuned lower to extend the range. Additionally, the high string could be tuned up to extend the high range. The tār has an excellent resonant tone for sustained low and mid-range drones with the open strings. Fretted and melodic tones have a strong crisp presence and will cut through an ensemble wonderfully.

The tar has settled into a very nice sound the way mulberry instruments do after many years of practice.  There are no issues of neck bowing or dead spots.

This tār was played and treated with love and respect for many hours. It sounds great and will serve as an excellent friend and musical partner for many years. I hope it will mean as much to you as it has to me. It will be shipped with an additional set of strings, instrument hardcase, and fret wire.

If you have any questions please reach out.

Cheers
