This is the one! Made in the Japan Strandberg Custom Shop and every bit as beautiful and well made as guitars coming out of the Strandberg Sweden Custom Shop. In fact, guitars from the Japan Custom Shop cost more than those made in the Sweden Custom Shop (with similar specs) and might even be made a little better.

Current ads for a new Strandberg Boden J6 (on ebay) list this guitar for $5,499.99 plus $123 shipping plus duty costs (could be considerable if a broker gets involved). Check it out yourself using Google. This model is not available through Strandberg US and needs to be purchased directly from Japan.

This Boden J6 guitar typically is available in the black or brown transparent stained finish. This one has the transparent black satin stain on the top and back with the natural roasted finished maple neck and ebony fingerboard. This roasted neck has an unbelievable seductive feel that beats anything I’ve ever touched and I hate letting go of this guitar. It’s very special.

I purchased this guitar brand new only a couple of months ago and I’ve played it less than 10 hours. It has never left my non-smoker climate controlled studio ever since I received it and it is in “like new” mint condition. You can see this if you examine the many photos I’ve attached to this ad. There is no wear on the frets or wear on the guitar itself.

I’m asking $2,900 and I will pay the listing fee, the PayPal fee, plus the shipping cost (FedEx ground insured) from me to you. That brings my net proceeds close to $2,500 and is the lowest price I can let this beautiful guitar go for. This price isn’t negotiable since it definitely provides a unique opportunity for anyone looking for a custom shop Strandberg guitar. The new made in Korea mass produced models cost about what I’m asking and you get so much more with this particular J6 guitar. There is absolutely no comparison!

This is my 2nd Strandberg Boden guitar that I’ve owned this year, and when I received my 1st Strandberg Boden OS6, I fell in love with the design, the ergonomics, the super light weight, and the tone of this guitar. Playability is unbelievable. My first one, however, was a much lower cost Korean version and this Japanese custom shop built guitar is considerably better in every respect.

I liked playing the 1st one but it didn’t cause me to want to pick it up like this one does. This one is seductive and if you are a player, you’ll have a hard time putting it down. It’s like the difference between a Honda Civic that gets you from point A to Point B and a BMW 3 Series Sedan that is an incredible “drivers” car (if you wanted to use cars for an analogy). There is no comparison!

The J6 is a custom made guitar and the OS6 is mass produced with all of it’s inherent quality control issues. Wood selection and the craftsmanship of the J6 is what you would expect from a custom hand built guitar in this price range. Playability is breathtaking (kind of what a BMW does to most any driver that gets behind the wheel).

Also, the key to a great sounding Strandberg guitar is to use a maple top, a swamp ash body, a maple neck, and a stiff fingerboard like the ebony board on this guitar. This combination of woods provides the most incredible sounding and best playing Strandberg you can obtain. Sure, you can vary these materials but if you want the best tone quality, this is the way to build a Strandberg. Any more money spent above and beyond how this Boden J6 is built is mostly for cosmetic reasons or a unique setup that is far from normal.

I might be making a mistake by selling this guitar and am only doing so to fund two new custom headless guitars that I’m having built by two different boutique guitar makers. I’m taking a risk by letting go of this J6 since it’s about as good as any ergonomic headless guitar ever gets and I might just want to have it back later on if it ends up being the best guitar in this bunch. Time will tell but for now, this one if for sale.
