What we have here was Roger Nichols' favorite dig dynamics box in a FULLY LOADED config. (So much so, that he marketed his own "Digital Dynam-izer" plug-in, whose algorithm was a suspicious imitation of the ORIGINAL.) The Valley 730 Dynamap MOWED DOWN slutty euro-trash wannabees at one third their price. This is the first (not the later down-market) version.
Frightfully expensive in 1995 (over $4k) this non-plus-ultra American effort is enrobed in a robust steel chassis with a huge VF display and a hefty sexy jog wheel encoder. Illuminated momentary contact buttons navigate the menu layers with ease!
The A/D/A circuit (appearing only on XLR) was said to be actual gen1 Apogee potted modules.
Word clock BNC i/o is monitored and DISPLAYED to the SINGLE SAMPLE! Watch jitter disappear when quality clock (i.e. a black burst gen locked DA98) is present. ODI, SPDIF, AES formats all present and available SIMULTANEOUSLY for dig in/out. A true swiss army knife - made in USA!
