NOTE: I'm new to Reverb, but have been selling regularly for ~25 years
as "peahix" on another well-known site. Buy with confidence!
Vintage 1977 Roland MC-8 Microcomposer 8-Channel Analog Sequencer, complete with the crucial proprietary data cable, as well as the original manual with demo programs, a pad of program data sheets, four CV/Gate cables that came shipped with the unit when new, and the original factory box. This is the cleanest and most complete example of this rare sequencer that I'm personally aware of. Cosmetically it's almost like new, with only a couple small nicks/blemishes. It's currently working 100% and is fully loaded with 15,936 bytes of RAM.
I tested it just prior to this listing in Oct 2022 by loading in the "Odd Rhythms" program data and recording all the parts one by one into my computer, using the MC-8's onboard sync capabilities, and everything worked fine. The demo video here is a different version of "Odd Rhythms" that I recorded with this unit many years ago.
The only quirk of this unit, that I believe to be something in the particular firmware revision that's installed, is that when running in loop mode, there's a slight hiccup at the loop point. Also, there's a similar hiccup at the very beginning of a sequence when the unit is slaved to the sync tone. Some years back I had another MC-8 that didn't exhibit these particular issues.
The only servicing I've ever had done on this unit was several years back when the clock chip needed to be replaced. You can watch a video about that on Synthchaser's YouTube channel, as well as several other videos on this unit on my own YouTube channel. I also made a Wordpress blog about the MC-8 in general, with loads of technical info, interviews, etc. Reverb doesn't allow links in their ads so you'll just have to Google all of those things.
