Originally introduced in the early '60s as a replacement for the Les Paul, the lightweight, yet powerful double-horned SG ("Solid Guitar") became an instant classic. Found in the hands of some of the greatest names in rock including Eric Clapton, Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi, The Who's Pete Townshend, the Allman Brothers, and more, the SG has proved to be a true rock icon.
Today, the SG Special Satin E1 gives you that legendary SG style, tone, and quality at an affordable price, making it equally suited for beginners and seasoned pros alike! Featuring that instantly-recognizable double-cutaway design, the poplar body sports a mahogany veneer and a classic black pickguard. For fast and easy to play, the bolt-on mahogany neck is shaped into a traditional-style 1960 SlimTaper "D" profile, and features a classic 24.75" scale length and a 22-fret fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays. The neck is also topped with a "Clipped Ear" headstock that showcases a vintage-inspired silver Epiphone logo on the front and a "2017 Edition" logo on the back.
Designed for rock, the SG Special Satin E1 comes loaded up with high-output Epiphone 650R and 700T open-coil ceramic humbuckers to deliver tighter lows, smoother mids, and more pronounced trebles than vintage-style Alnico humbuckers. The no-nonsense 2-knob control layout includes a Master Volume and Master Tone control that allows for easy tone shaping. Nickel hardware include a set of premium covered 14:1 ratio tuning machines, a quality LockTone Tune-o-Matic bridge, and a stopbar tailpiece.
