NSP Effects Hessian Professional Overdrive Effect Pedal (Klone)

Thank you for your interest this Hessian Overdrive  pedal. While living in the Hudson Valley region of New York, the thick billowing fog that lasts till late morning blanketing the forest covered rocky hills during the autumn months is an every day occurrence. This lends a very creepy vibe, especially considering the proximity to the real Sleepy Hollow where the tale of the Headless Hessian of the Hollow, shortened to The Headless Horseman all started. Hessians were Germanic soldiers who served as auxiliaries to the British Army during the American Revolution. The tragic tale begins when one of the these Hessian soldiers dies during the Battle of White Plains in 1776 by decapitation from an American cannonball. His comrades were able to recover his mangled body after the battle but, according to local folklore they left his missing head on the battlefield. They buried the soldier in the Old Dutch Church Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow where legend says his disturbed spirit rises from the grave, mounting his ghostly steed and riding off into the night in search of his still missing head.

This is a heavily modified K style pedal with a few extra tricks. The pedal is true bypass only, not buffered but as much of the original signal path of the bypass circuit was kept in circuit as possible after the effect pedal is engaged. The original buffer is still there, it has just been routed after the stomp switch. This way you don’t need to worry about a buffer interfering with the tone of your other pedals while the Hessian is on your pedalboard. The center toggle switch allows you to alternate between the expected germanium diode hard clipping and a much louder and open sounding set of Red LEDs. The bass response has been increased so its a viable option for use with drop tuned or bass guitars, but the added bass cut control allows you to tame it back down to suit your taste, whatever your needs. The final modifications to the circuit concerns the mid and treble response, adjusted for a more open feeling to prevent it from sounding nasally which can be an issue with with this type of circuit.

Controls:

• VOLUME: Adjusts the overall volume of the effect.
• GAIN: Adjust the level of overdrive/distortion of the effect.
• TREBLE: Treble cut control. Cut the amount of treble that passes through the effect.
• BASS: Bass cut control. Cut the amount of bass that passes through the effect.
• Center Toggle Switch: Up position is a symmetric pair of Soviet D9K Germanium diodes set up in a standard hard clipping configuration. Down position is a symmetric pair of Red LEDs set up in a standard hard clipping configuration.
