Another innovation from Godin. 

This is a very rare Seagull (Godin) Uke Steel String with truss rod. Godin have confirmed it is no longer made although the Nylon version is still in production, so this is very hard to find, especially in factory mint condition like this example.

Seagull made 2 versions, both Soprano : a Nylon string, which is still made and this Steel version with extra bracing and a truss rod to handle the significantly increased tension from the steel strings.
If you try to add steel strings to a nylon ukulele, you will pull the bridge from the body and warp the neck due to the much higher tension from the steel strings.
This sounds beautiful especially with a splash of reverb and chorus, brighter and jangly which can be tamed with the tone pot, it almost sounds like a mandolin but easier to play and guitar tuning transposed.
With the steel strings and preamp you can play slide and add overdrive for lead solos in a full band, without feedback.

Very nice Ibanez part suede Gigbag included, these Ukes were not shipped with gigbags in Europe and the Ibanez has much more storage and padding than the Seagull gigbag
Sorry to see this go as it really is another original and innovative instrument from Mr. Godin but I prefer to play a Tenor or Baritone Ukulele.

I upgraded the pegs to wooden pegs with mother of pearl inlays.
