The Taylor American Dream AD22E Acoustic-Electric Guitar offers the company's least expensive American-made Guitar with all solid woods. With a solid Mahogany top and solid Sapele back and sides, it's hard not to draw comparisons to the much-loved Martin D-15 model. This acoustic-electric from Taylor features the tamped-down highs, warmth, and richness of an all-tropical hardwood guitar!

The top on the AD22e is made from solid Mahogany. This revered and sought-after tonewood offers up a focused tone, powerful but uniform and articulate. A brilliant choice for the singer looking for an instrument to support their vocals. The back and sides are made from Sapele, a tonewood very much like Mahogany but it is a touch harder on the Janka scale. Tone-wise, it's almost indiscernible from Mahogany so you get a warm, rich-sounding guitar that is a little less bright and voluminous than if it had a spruce top on it.

The neck is made from mahogany and topped with a eucalyptus fingerboard. This relatively new combo for Taylor is fantastic. The neck features 1.75" nut width along with 24.875" scale length for a slightly slinky feel on the strings. This scale length pairs well with the mahogany/sapele construction contributing further to its warmth.

Loaded with Taylor's Expression System 2, this guitar comes prepped to handle whatever it is that you can throw at it. This system sounds marvelous with minimal tweaking. In fact, I have to put in the effort to get it to sound bad! With controls for volume, bass, and treble, the onboard controls are simple. Amps and PA Systems play nicely with the Expression System as well, allowing you to cater the tone to your exact needs.
