About This Listing

This listing is for a Vintage 1960's Guyatone EB-9 Bass Guitar. This bass was made in Japan in circa 1967 and has a very cool original look & design. Sometimes this model is called the "Sharp 5" and they made a similar shaped guitar. This bass is being sold as a project for repair and has uncomfortably high action. The neck is also not straight and it's not clear if the truss rod is working enough to fix it. I have not really spent much time trying to fix this but I can tell it will need some pretty significant repair work to make this bass play properly. The string height at the 12th fret low E string is approximately 5mm. The neck seems to bow around the 2nd fret so there is definitely something up with the neck and the bass will much more than a typical standard set up. The pickups & electronics are working. The pots may need a quick spray out but the electronics are functional. The knobs are changed but the other parts appear original. The bass is missing the bridge cover
The bass has a great looking blue sparkle finish but shows very heavy wear. There is extensive finish checking and some significant finish wear. The wear is all over the bass but is heaviest on the back and the bass side of the front. The pickguard is cracked in one spot and there is a screw hole in the back from where a strap button used to be.
The bass comes with a used gig and will be expertly packed for safe shipping. Due to the significant issues in the description this bass is being sold AS-IS with no returns or refunds. Please understand that this bass will need some significant repair do not purchase this if you are not comfortable with our return policy.
