This is a 1983 Charvel P-Bass built in San Dimas CA at the original Jackson/Charvel factory. This bass was also featured on page 4 in the 1983 Charvel catalog. For a 34 years old bass it is in excellent condition, but is not a museum piece. It has fine scratches, small indentations, and players wear, but was gently used and well cared for. I will let the pictures show the location and significance of any flaws. The body is bound alder with an oiled birds-eye maple neck. The fretboard is a thick slab of ¼ inch ebony with jumbo frets that show minimal (if any) wear. The headstock, neck, and hardware are in superb condition.
In my opinion the bass appears to be all original right down to the screws. DiMarzio 250K pots (dated 8th week of ‘83) along with DiMarzio Jazz and P-bass pickups make up the electronics. The bass has hung on the wall of my game room as a piece of art since 1998. The body has been polished regularly and the fretboard oiled with Stew Mac fretboard oil. It comes with an awesome brown hardshell case in excellent condition. I doubt the case is original, but with a Charvel amp nameplate attached to it, it is certainly cool.
