I love Hamers, so when I found this for sale locally I snagged it. However, all of my gigging guitars get banged up on tight stages and I decided this is too nice for me to play out.
The neck and action are amazing. That's what Hamers do. The profile I would say is in between 1950s chunky and 1960s slim tapered LP necks.
It has some light play wear on the 1-3 frets, and a chip on the top edge. There are also pick scratches and a few smooth bottomed dings here and there. Also the bridge pickup has some of the plating wearing off. For a 20 year old instrument it is in very good condition. The case is solid but has tears in the tolex.
I think the tone and sustain are great, but everyone has their expectations and lots of people try various pickups in these guitars.
It has new .009-.042 D'addario Xls, and it absolutely flies. Possibly the fastest guitar I have played. However, I'm in the desert, so expect it to need a setup after it gets settled into your climate.
They're not made any more, as of 2012, so they will only become more and more rare. In fact, I couldn't find a single one like this for sale on the internet.
Sold as is, no returns except for shipping loss/damage or if you find a serious defect that I missed.
Free shipping to the US, international email for quote. I declare the full value on customs forms.
