About This Listing

This instrument was created by Craig Bumgarner, a highly-regarded builder of Selmer-style and other gypsy-style guitars, in February of 2022. It is based on his Parlor Gypsy body (370mm by 475mm), and features a Lutz spruce top, a maple neck with walnut spline. 22-7/8″ (~581mm) scale, adjustable truss rod, ebony fingerboard, EVO Gold frets, ebano bridge and mustaches, Rubner 4 on a plate tuners, and a custom tailpiece. The beautiful back and sides are figured birdseye maple laminate (laminate construction is a feature of gypsy-style instruments, which allows for light yet strong construction and contributes to their unique sound). French polish finish. It's tuned GDAE, strung with Argentine wound strings on the G and D, D’Addario plain steel strings on the A and E. It's unlike other octave mandolins, in that it has a distinctive "Django jangle" that cuts through, particularly while comping. This octave mandolin is in mint condition. With hard shell case.
