Vintage 1968 WEM Custom 15 combo amplifier with essentially the same circuit as the V-front Dominator and MkII Dominator. Two channels (instrument and microphone) and tremolo with the phono footswitch socket.
These
were introduced in 1964, at first with an Elac10” speaker, and,
according to the Vintage Hofner site, made in small numbers before being
dropped in 1970, probably because the Dominator II was more popular and
with little difference between the two models. Condition is very good
for an amp that is almost 56 years old with a few dings in the metal
grille and some wear on the corners. There is evidence of a name plate
having been glued to the bottom of the grille, now missing. The
rectifier and power valves are original Mullards with an assortment of
makes in the preamp. A Celestion G12S speaker with a September 1968 date
code is fitted while the main smoothing capacitor has a date of March
1967.
Collection is preferred but shipping should be around £30 depending on destination.
