For sale is a one and only Godin
branded fretless guitar with nylon strings.
As confirmed to me
by Godin by serial number the neck is from a 2006 Godin Nylon
Fretless guitar, which originally had a natural finish with Solid
Spruce Top. The body is an unidentified original Godin from the ACS
series with Multiac RMC hexaphonic pickup SA electronics with flame
maple top. The photos do not do justice to its honeyed beauty.
In natural light, top is more chocolate brown.
Both
of these models had the same way of mounting the neck in the body.
They were therefore easily interchangeable. The main difference
between the two was that the Nylon model had a deeper body with
resonance chambers. The ACS offered a nicer top and is acoustically
quieter (which is a big advantage if you're just learning to play a
fretless guitar ;).
All the electronics are the same in both models.
I don't know who made this modification or why. The guitar was bought
by me in Croatia from second hand. The seller didn't know this either. He had
supposedly already bought one himself. What he did know, however, was
that a professional luthier had revised the shape of this
neck. It had been slimmed down and finished with natural oil. It is
also likely that tuners were replaced in this guitar at that time, as
I have never seen Godin use the single tuners visible in the photos.
These tuners are sensational and the neck is now a racer. The
modification has not affected the stability of the neck in the
slightest (I have never had to adjust it), but the playing comfort
has definitely improved. The neck now has a D profile and at the 12th
fret is about 19 mm thick. I love Godin guitars and basses. I have a
few of them, but if I had to complain about anything, it was always
their old-school approach to neck shapes that bothered me. This
guitar has no such problems. It will definitely be the choice of
modern fast guitar lovers.
The guitar offers both a piezo
signal and a 13 pin Synth Access output. Everything works properly. The
signal on the saddles is even. Very low string action with
beautifully sounding gentle musical buzz (mwahh) of the empty 2 lowest bass
strings (Indian instrument style).
Used instrument - 100% in
working order. Normal signs of use. Ebony fretboard is in nice condition.
The
only thing it would need are new strings.
I'm parting with
this instrument with real regret. He was my first professional
fretless guitar. However, I do still have a Godin XTSA fretless with
metal strings with piezo and MIDI, and I've just bought a Godin
Glissentar with duplicated nylon strings, so for someone who is not a
guitarist, that's as far as it goes. So I'm looking for a new home
for my old baby.
The instrument doesn't come with the
original gigbag. However, I will send it well protected with bubble
wrap and styrofoam, in the original Godin carton after my new
Glissentar.
Together with Godin, I can sell a Roland GI20 with a 13 pin cable at a good price. This equipment will enable you to use the Synth Access function of this guitar. If you are really interested, ask for an offer.
If you live outside EU please note that you may be subject to duties and taxes in your coountry.
