A beautiful guitar from the renowned master luthier family of Max Amberger in excellent condition. Professional grade.
An absolutely magical instrument with a most remarkable sound. It is quite miraculous how far this little guitar can be pushed without any buzzing. A gorgeous large rich sound with excellent projection bearing both a warm golden velvety timbre as well as brilliant highs. Intonation is as perfect as it gets. The neck, fingerboard, and frets are in impeccable condition and could virtually pass for new. The string action is perfect. Quite remarkable really, super low string action with no buzzing. This is an exceptionally comfortable and easy instrument to play.

These Amberger guitars are sought after by the finest collectors and dealers worldwide and are closely associated with the impresario of guitar building Hermann Hauser who was a close friend with Amberger and took over the company after Amberger's passing. To quote from the internationally renowned guitar dealer/distributer Zaveleta's Casa de Guitarras who recently sold the same model: "This guitar was probably built between 1895 and 1921, and is a Munich style guitar which is nearly identical those that Hermann Hauser built into the 1920s. Hermann Hauser III has a Max Amberger guitar much like this one in his own collection that he has photographed next to his grandfather’s Munich model for comparison."
Hermann Hauser bought the company from Amberger’s widow in 1921, and moved his workshop from Bayerstr. 33 to the Amberger workshop on Müllerstr. 8. In fact, the Max Amberger company now under Hauser III continues to manufacture zithers even today.
Whatever secrets and techniques Hauser and Amberger were employing they constructed some remarkable instruments. This guitar really confounds in its simplicity, yet beauty of sound and power.
This is an extremely versatile instrument which although being constructed according to the dimensions of the early romantic guitar has enough power to be used in wide array of styles. That having been said it is an ideal instrument for the performance of 19th century classical/romantic repertoire. In fact it is brilliant, in that it possesses the characteristics of the 19th century guitar, but with more volume and projection.
