About This Listing

I literally bought this guitar the day it hit the floor. I fell in love immediately. A ONE-OF-ONE CUSTOM TELE?!?! And one so beautiful?!?!

The very next day, my long-time dream guitar… an ever-elusive MIJ Telecaster Deluxe Thinline w/ Fidelitron pick-ups, hit the market and I scooped it up immediately.

The MIJ actually made it to me first, and it was everything I hoped it would be. I tried this guitar out, and it has a SUPER UNIQUE sound. It’s very cool and retains its glassiness even as that P-90 hits that magical “edge of break-up.”

However, I just couldn’t put my dream guitar down, and I’ve actually never taken this one out of its case again.

So here it is. This was an exclusive through TrueTone Music out of Santa Monica, CA.

Per their made-to-order description, just a little over a month ago:

We just received one of the more unique and versatile Custom Shop Teles we've had here: the Limited Edition P90 Mahogany Tele. Fender came out with this as a small run model, but we created a version in our own custom color - so this is the only one out there that exists.

The Chambered Mahogany body is finished with an Ebony Transparent top and Aged Natural Back and Sides. Authentically aged as part of the Journeyman Relic package, this finish will wear beautifully with time and develop its own character even further. It also allows the natural resonance of the body to sing and sustain much more effectively compared with other more modern finishes. The body is accented beautifully with the parchment binding on the top, and the transparent finish really showcases the wood grain, which is exactly why we went for it. Also, it being a chambered body means that it's lightweight - the guitar comes in at only 6.5 lbs.

If that didn't make your head turn, the neck
definitely will. The tinted Roasted AAA Flame Maple neck is absolutely amazing. It's one of the best looking necks we've had here. It's finished in nitro lacquer for a smooth, authentic, vintage feel, and topped with a dark AAA Rosewood fretboard with a 12" radius, 21 Jumbo frets and Large "C" profile (.870" at the 1st fret and .970" at the 12th fret), it's a real treat to play.

With the Telecaster design being considered by many to be the original workhorse guitar, the Custom Shop Mahogany Tele needs a pickup pairing that can deliver the classic Tele twang. A Custom P-90 in the neck and a Hand-Wound Loaded Nocaster in the bridge offers a slightly alternative Telecaster flavor. Precise and delivering great tonal variation, these pickups are a great choice. The Custom P-90 in the neck position gives you the power of a humbucker combined with the sparkling clarity of a single-coil.

The Hand-Wound Loaded Nocaster bridge pickup will bring all of the classic Tele sound that has been known and loved for years.
Another unique element of this guitar is the Reverse Nocaster Bridge with SD Saddles. It
puts the bridge pickup angled in the opposite direction of a normal Tele, which creates a different sound - there's less treble and piercing brightness on the higher strings, and a bit more snap and punch on the lower strings. We've found that a lot of players love this result.

Other features include a unique Caballo Tono parchment pickguard, 'vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut and winged string tree. Also includes a Custom Shop Deluxe Black hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.

We have a special guitar here, and while we've had a ton of Tele's here over the years, this is one of the coolest. Come to Club Fender at Truetone Music to try it out today, or order right here right now to get it sent straight to your home.
