The original microphone that the Royer SF-12 was designed after. This one was built by Bob Speiden himself and later was re-built by Royer to bring it up to Royer's exacting specs. It gives you the best of both worlds, a hand-crafted piece of microphone history (rather than a mass produced gem), but also upgraded to to meet Royer's improved design. This one sounds absolutely gorgeous. It includes the original would box, Royer felt slip, Royer shockmount ($225 new), and the proprietary cables to patch it into your system.

The tech at Royer told me that only 110 of these were ever made. As you might know, Bob Speiden was hired by David Royer to continue building the SF-12 under the Royer name and did so up until the time of his passing.

This mic is THE Classical and Baroque ensemble mic and has served that purpose since I purchased it from Vintage King in 2014. It also makes one hell of an overhead and room mic. It wouldn't be leaving my hands if I wasn't trying to upgrade to a console. These almost never pop up for sale so jump on this while you can.
