RUNT GUITARS Homemade Instruments, a brand by up-and-coming Hokkaido-based Luthier
RUNT GUITARS Homemade Instruments, a brand by Masahiro Goto, an up-and-coming and unique luthier living in Hokkaido, Japan, is proud to present the ultra-practical Bass.

RUNT GUITARS Homemade Instruments officially started its activities in 2016.
Mr. Goto has a unique background, originally working as a studio manager at a studio in Tokyo, rather than as a repairman who became independent and became a craftsman, which is often seen in private studios.
As a player himself, he has seen up-close and personal the problems and areas for improvement that are evident in many players' performances, and he is confident that he can provide a "good sound.
He believes in making instruments based on the clear philosophy that "a good sound comes from the artist's sensibility transmitted through the fingertips, and for this to happen, there must be no stress in the performance.
Some of the best overseas luthiers are engineers-turned-craftsmen, but Goto's instruments are, as is often the case, extremely unique and excellent in both playability and design.

The flagship model of RUNT GUITARS, Hucho, has just arrived at the store.
This time, the body is made of luxurious black walnut, and the fingerboard is made of Japanese maple with raised flaming.
The fretboard is made of Japanese maple with raised flamed surface.

As we have seen with the previous 6-string model, every time we receive a new shipment, the details are updated more and more, and we are very pleased with the quality of the new model.
It is evident that Mr. Goto has been reflecting the discoveries he has made with his five senses in his production process.

The body shape, as described in detail in the previous 6-string model, has a very unique design. The horns are relatively traditional and less rounded, but the contours have a tremendous curve.
The horn section is a relatively traditional rounded shape, but the contours have been processed with tremendous curvature.
As a luthier who plays the instrument himself, Mr. Goto has given careful consideration to every detail of the points that players are interested in.

As always, the neck finish is outstanding.
The bolt-on model was originally produced with the main concept of "if a problem occurs with the neck, it can be replaced," but as a result, there are few people who replace the neck, and many use the instrument by applying various repairs and somehow maintaining the original.
Naturally, the quality of the original neck is important, and many people look at it from a serious point of view, but RUNT GUITARS has achieved a high level of both rigidity and playability, and the precision has a quality that can only be achieved because each piece is a one-off.
The asymmetrical shape allows for smooth vertical and horizontal movement without discomfort, and the loose radius of the fingerboard allows the string height to be set quite low.
The current string height is 1.5mm on the 4th string and 1.2mm on the 1st string at 12F.
The 34inch, 20F specification has a traditional sound that is comfortable to the ear, regardless of the genre.

The body is made of Black Walnut.
The body is made of Black Walnut, which goes well with the satin finish sprayed with ultra-thin poly, and the overall impression is calm but not gloomy.
The Claro Walnut Burl, which is colored purple as an accent color, is a great match, and the head logo is in harmony with the whole body.

EMG is used for both the PU and the active circuit in the electrical system.
The extremely precise clean sound is pleasant, and you can enjoy the extremely practical tone of the bass that plays a clear scale while having a thick axis.
The EMGs are equipped with a 1V1T3BnandEQ without switching to passive (with Mid variable range). (Mid variable range is available).

RUNT GUITARS models are named after wild animals that live in Hokkaido.
Hucho means "Itou," a fantastic fish.
This is a true handmade product, full of consideration for the user.
It is a precision-made instrument that is sure to make its way into the mainstream.

The overall playability is outstanding, and the quality is comparable to that of a high-end instrument.
We look forward to hearing from you.
